Brodie Swisher

Bro's TN Buck

11/12/2013

I've been a little off the radar the last couple weeks as my favorite days of the year have finally rolled around and I'm spending as much time as possible in the treestand.  Our new ministry efforts (sportsmenchurch.com) and move back to TN have brought a welcomed return to my whitetail hunting roots.  I'm back in the county I killed my first deer 25 years ago.  It's been an exciting return to the "good ol' days" of chasin' deer.

Just weeks after settling in to our new home, I was blessed in taking a great buck on the first sit in a new stand not far from my house.  The buck responded to my second rattling sequence, coming from behind my stand.  I saw enough bone as the buck cruised through the brush to know I was gonna let an arrow loose.  I stopped him just before he cleared a shooting lane I had cleared just days before.  My arrow covered the 30+ yards in a flash.  The arrow smacked hard and the buck took off.  The lung-shot buck was dead in 3 seconds, crashing just 50 yards away.  I couldn't believe what just happened.  On day one of November I had killed what may be my best buck of the year.  It was a great start to my favorite season of the year!
Gear Used:
Mathews Monster Chill, Trophy Taker SmackDown Pro arrow rest, Black Gold Ascent sight, TightSpot quiver, Trophy Taker Ulmer Edge broadhead, Easton Axis arrows, Badlands pack.
