Choose Life.

8/12/2014

Life or Death? The greatest choice we'll ever make in our days on this earth.

God wants you to choose life.

"Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life..."  Deuteronomy 30:19-20

Muck Boots and Humane Society.

8/6/2014

The Muck Boot Company is doing a lot of backpedaling right now over their recent decisions to host a fundraiser for the Humane Society. They are now getting hammered by ranchers, hunters, and outdoorsmen that will no longer be Muck customers. All the "What we mean't to say" coming from the company is sickening. The post below is a response from Muck on their FB page. It sure seems like a load of crap to me. Especially when you see their original post in the photo below. What do you think?

"We would like to respond to our loyal customers and provide additional information about recent posts on social media regarding a monetary donation to a local animal care organization. Our post inaccurately stated that a donation was made to The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). Moreover, the post itself was inappropriate under the circumstances.

Family members of an employee who recently passed away requested that, in lieu of flowers, co-workers donate funds to the Humane Association of Northwestern Rhode Island, a local association founded in 1978 to solve community issues primarily related to stray cats. They are not affiliated with HSUS as the posts incorrectly stated.

The money is not a corporate donation, but a collection of personal contributions from employees with the intent of remembering a beloved co-worker. While our intentions were good, the use of corporate social channels under these circumstances was inappropriate...."

If you're not careful you can easily get caught up in trying to find fulfillment in a multitude of followers. Think about it. How many times have you let the number of "Likes" on your social media post make or break your mood for the moment? Today's society tends to tell us that the person with the most friends and followers wins in this life. So we hang our worth on how many folks follow us.

As the picture above notes, Jesus only had 12. 12 followers. Hardly enough to be considered a celebrity. Not even close to enough for a sponsor endorsement. But with 12 simple followers Jesus changed the world. Sure, there were a lot of folks that followed him simply to see the crazy stunts He pulled off. Everyone likes a show. But when He called the people out and explained what it truly meant to be a follower, most of the folks turned and walked away. Only a few remained as faithful followers.

Jesus invested His life into a very small group of followers. Those followers changed the world forever.
