Fall Bowfishing10/31/2013 Although we're in the midst of the deer hunter's favorite time of the year, I went out with a couple good friends the other night to try a little fall bowfishing on a new spot on the TN River. Lake levels are very low right now on KY Lake so we had high hopes that fish might be piled in to this new location. However, things were fairly slow. We did see enough fish to keep us cruising the shallows as we saw a variety of fish and even encountered one monster fish that got away without an arrow. It was a great night to enjoy some fall weather on the water...proving once again, anytime is a good time for bowfishing.

TN Youth Deer Hunt10/28/2013 We've moved back to Tennessee this fall and with that move comes the opportunity for my kids to finally have the opportunity to hunt big game. This past weekend was the youth deer hunt in TN. Saturday morning seemed to be an ideal day in the deer woods. It was a cool frosty morning. Everything seemed perfect....except for the deer activity. Me and Aidan got skunked. Never saw a deer! Despite the lack of action we were really happy for our hunting buddy, Carter Moody, who killed his first buck Saturday afternoon. Way to go Carter!
Avery and I went out for a quick hunt Sunday morning. We almost got a crack at a coyote that slipped by at 30 yards, but he got in and out of our shooting lane too quick. Despite the lack of deer action, it was good to get out and see my kids fired up about being behind the gun instead of running the camera for dad. Good days to come! BlogArchives
